Sony wasted no time dropping megaton announcements at their press conference, immediately unveiling the return of The Last Guardian on the PlayStation 4. The game was originally developed for the PlayStation 3 by Team Ico, the development team behind beloved classics such as Ico and Shadows of the Colossus. It was originally announced back in 2009, but the game languished in development hell and was perpetually delayed. The games producer, Fumito Ueda, left Sony in 2011 to become a freelancer, leading many to believe the game would never see the light of day.Â
The game is currently being developed by Ueda and Japan Studios and will be released in 2016.Â
