New Series Coming Soon: Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Z has been getting a lot of attention lately with the recent release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse as well as the recent release of the movie Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F in Japan,as well as plans to have an English dubbed release in theaters this summer in the US. Now the biggest news yet has sprung with the announcement of a brand new Dragon Ball series scheduled to come out this July!

Dragon Ball Super is set to air in Japan on Sunday mornings and the entire project is being overseen by the series creator Akira Toriyama himself. Dragon Ball Super is set to take place after the events of the Majin Buu saga. There’s no telling as of yet if this will completely retcon the events of GT since there’s no telling how long after the events of the Majin Buu saga. The last two movies that have been released, Dragonball Z: Battle of the Gods and Dragonball Z: Resurrection F, take place after the Cell saga while all of the characters are older, but the show could easily take place either before or after those movies. The only thing known for certain is that along with the announcement, it was teased that the series will introduce an enemy stronger than anyone that Goku and his companions have faced before.

“As I read the plot [of the series] I’ve already received from Akira Toriyama, my dreams for this begin to expand. An enemy even stronger than Buu or Freeza may appear…” – Osamu Nozaki, Fuji TV producer
