It’s Bamfing time!  Alas the life of a mutant is never easy especially when you are blue and look like a devil.  Why Kurt thought leaving the after life to come back to earth was such a good idea? Leaving heaven to throw himself back into the fray? Not that I’m complaining about getting our favorite blue elf back, and this issue gives us a little peak inside his thought process.

After the debacle at the Circus and visit with their adoptive mother, Kurt,  his first love Amanda Sefton, and his circus friends retreat to the School of Jean Grey to seek help from the X-men to fight off the wicked Trimega.   And that is where this issue starts us off.

After a quick escape and a moment of peace  the group find themselves involved in a not so pleasant welcome.  Storm has not forgotten the wicked deeds of Margali the sorcerer. But Kurt is insistent that their pasts must be put aside so that their present might lead to a future.  After a small heart to heart with best friends, everything turns to hell. To be honest, so much happened I had to read it a second time through to get a better grasp! I am still chomping at the bit waiting for the next issue! What is happening!?

As much as I love Nightcrawler I was a little put off with some of the behavior of the characters.  Ororo seemed a lot more aggressive, I’m used to her being stern but level headed. It seemed as if she was about to zap the Sorceress where she stood the moment she showed up.  I understand that they are not by any means friends and that in other story lines, Storm is struggling.  Also, seeing Logan say ” True That, Bub.” It was like a dad joke.  Not cool, Logan.  Amusing but not cool.

But not all is lost for the art really reminded me of some of the that nineties style with a cartoon flair. When everything used to lean more anime with the big eyes and hard angles.  Luckily its not that intense and has a softer edge but it was kind of nice to see, like walking down memory lane.

Over all I’m not all that invested in the story, it is keeping me interested enough to wonder what happens but I have yet to reach that wow factor.  But this journey has only just begun and I think it deserves further investigation so we wait with crossed fingers and high hopes!

Overall Score  4.5 out of 10
