Kaho Shibuya’s Best Animes of 2020

Part 1

When Funimation canceled the series after airing 3 episodes, some Japanese TV stations followed. It was a hilarious topic on social media. I was worried that ecchi content would be frowned upon more strongly. My non-family-friendly past would become a bigger hindrance because obviously mainstream media wants to avoid such a tone. Anime is popular content for kids too.

However, the show was avidly worshipped by a lot of anime fans, so much so that it eventually aired on more Japanese TV channels than when it started, the title was nominated as Internet Buzzword 2020 and ranked 44th in Japan. Anime adaptation of manga with so much fan service, overtly sexual scenes, or full nudity usually tones down, like Tsugumomo and Domestic Girlfriend. Interspecies Reviewers went the opposite way; there is juicier ero in the anime show. The original manga is serialized on a shonen magazine, thus nowhere near the level of R18. In terms of interspecies’ intercourses, they stimulate your imagination with a written review, not in art like hentai. Such talks and actions are described vaguely.

The anime, on the other hand, goes all the way to the point. Interspecies Reviewers has an “uncensored version” with extra sexy sound on some platforms. If that is too much, there was a “less censored version” on streaming sites a week after the regular episode’s airing, much more helpful than Highschool DxD or even Yosuga no Sora where you couldn’t see most of the wildest moments and had to wait for the DVD releases to see what you have missed. Such excessive fillers were quite a bold move. What’s more, Interspecies Reviewers well described the unwritten (technically written in reviews, but only written in words) parts of the manga. They deserve kudos for creating those extra scenes.

Not only that they added special anime bonuses that fit the original content, but the super lewd footages also don’t look disgusting; the character design and overall tone of the show stay comedic and cute. This is a fun show you can smile and laugh hard. As an anison DJ, I’m seriously fascinated by its addicting OP too.
