Harley Quinn # 7

A round of applause for Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti for this non Harley fan and changing my opinion!  I have never been a fan of Harely Quinn and when it was suggested I pick up this series I was not very interested.  However, the art did catch my eye and she is growing in popularity so I thought, “I’d give it a go” and I’m glad I did.  If anybody needed this 52’s revamp it was her, no longer the “I’m just here to be funny” character, She’s stepped out of the shadows to prove what a femme fatale she can be while still throwing in a pun here and there and goodness was this issue full of puns and poor jokes!

Harley and Ivy send the better part of the comic trying to uncover who has put a hit on the prankster. Though starting off on the beach  for a little fun in the sun is a good way to start out the issue, its a wonder how the beach goers are not spazzing at the fact that the two known Villains are around.  In fact two rather buff fellows seemed very interested in flirting. (Lets be real I think we would all flirt with them.)  After some hijinks and shenanigans, it is soon revealed who put the hit on the clown and then things get violent.

The subject of visuals in this issue is full of so many great facial expressions.  Harley is known for being goofy and I feel Chad Hardin nailed it with out making her look inhuman. As for Ivy in a swim suit? My my.  Each character is easily definable and the display of different body types is very impressive.

Over all the story was enlightening, beautiful to look at, and had a very good pace. Intro, meat, conclusion with a cliff hanger ending.  It felt like watching an episode and I love that.  Non Harley fans, I highly recommend giving this series a go. It might just change your mind. And to all you Harley fan’s, keep on keeping on.
