GI Joe: Snake Eyes, Agent of Cobra #4 Review

Written By: Mike Costa
Art By: Paulo Villanelli
Colors By: Joana LaFuente
Publisher: IDW Publishing

This fun, action packed series last left off with Storm Shadow preparing to capture Billy unless Snake Eyes can reach him first.  Billy is still teamed up with Chameleon in a hospital with a broken leg, but not for long.  Her fierce stubbornness to keep Billy alive drives them into the woods, taking down multiple combatants along the way. The two of them high-tail it to Mexico, with a quick nod to Arizona with a Yuma highway sign, before city hopping across the globe. Most of the opening story is told through Chameleon’s narration, offering insight to her feelings about Billy and their predicament in general. Snake Eyes remains stoic and silent, naturally. This issue is jam packed with action that keeps you on your seat.

Costa continues to integrate multiple characters into action and plot without the issues feeling distracted or crowded. Villanelli and LaFuente have done an amazing job at keeping the gritty, dark nature of serious Joe comics without these issues feeling like an artistic rehash of a previous series. The art is gritty and yet fresh and new, an excellent treatment for a comic that could easily become dark all the time.

Will Storm Shadow find Billy and Chameleon? Will there be an epic battle this issue? When will Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes finally go head to head?! Keep reading to find out, and make sure to add this series to your subscription box!
