Kaho Shibuya’s Favorite Animes Of 2020

Part 2

A long title is on-trend everywhere. Not just light-novel and manga, but also JAV since millennials living in the modern society with the internet have too many choices these days; they have to know exactly what they can expect before making a decision, hence all the self-explanatory names. Even New year’s lucky bags, “Fukubukuro,” are no longer mysteries anymore in Japan; most of them are wrapped in plastic bags so customers can see the inside.

The two scientists in Science Fell In Love want to see everything crystal clear too and try to prove their feelings toward each other scientifically. Their peers feel embarrassed by the fact they are cluelessly acting lovey-dovey via the “love experiments,”. They sometimes try helping them as  “comparisons” and “test cases” to finalize the ultimate conclusion that the two brilliant scientists are stupidly in love.

Science Fell In Love is adorable, funny, and unique in the same way as The Big Bang Theory, with many smarty-ass words and scientific jargon. Indeed, the original manga got a live-action adaptation (TV series plus a movie) 2 years before the anime because of the interesting concept. However, in my opinion, the anime has executed the story way better. Just like the series Cells At Work, the show actually teaches you academics well beside the main story arc. They present each data and reference in animation with a cute bear mascot that is quite easy to understand.

Other lab members include a common-sense girl to represent our point of view, a cunning gamer senpai to stir things up, and a self-claimed love master kohai who is actually sleeping with 2D girl body pillows from love simulation games. I was quite impressed by the guy’s “conquering eroge” research and how eloquently he defends his theory! There is also a kind teacher with huge muscles to keep up with their students. Focusing on the main couple is fun enough, but I was also intrigued by those supporting characters and wanted to know them more if the series were longer. The announcement of the second season last October, therefore, made me quite happy.
