As a fan of Volume 1 of Ima Koi: Now I’m in Love, I was eager but nervous for the second volume. Many series fall flat after their debut volume, and it is nerve-wracking to think that might happen with Ima Koi. But Ima Koi: Now I’m in Love Volume 2 was just as successful as the first, and made me fall even harder for the story!Â
Written and illustrated by Ayuko Hatta, the story continues to follow Satomi and Yagyu as they further develop their relationship. Now that it’s summer, the two plan to spend every free moment together. But of course, things never go just as planned, and the two are up for a few obstacles leading to some relationship trouble! In Ima Koi: Now I’m in Love Volume 2, readers get the romance-obligatory beach scene, but it isn’t awkward or heated like in many shojo stories. Despite a hiccup that leads Satomi and Yagyu to have a discussion about their relationship, the overall scenes ended up continuing the flow of sweetness and genuine curiosity about their feelings. This attitude towards the relationship is one of my favorite things about Ima Koi. It adds innocence and honesty that makes the relationship seem real. Readers easily find themselves rooting for the couple, just as excited for the built-up moments, and ‘aww’-ing at every sweet remark. 
As hoped, Ima Koi: Now I’m in Love Volume 2 is full of those sweet moments and relationship-building that continue the couple along. The artwork is just as stunning as in the first volume, with beautiful shading and detailing in all the right spots. Faces are still detailed and gorgeous, even with the addition of new characters. Author Hatta really has a way of showcasing a character’s personality through their physical artistry and design, instantly showing readers what kind of person they are just through their initial appearance. But it doesn’t stop there: each scene with them just builds onto the character, and even if they didn’t say a word, you know exactly what they were thinking.Â
Volume 2 of Ima Koi: Now I’m in Love easily continues the excellence that the first volume created, flowing smoothly into new stories and trials for the young couple. I’m personally thrilled that this volume turned out so well, and cannot wait, again, for the next one.
